Wartling Parish Broadband Update
24th September
The work required to connect and commission the fibre cabinet located in Wartling has been completed ahead of schedule. It is now possible for the Wartling areas of the Parish to take advantage of the speed increase that fibre to the cabinet (FTC) offers.
The closer to this cabinet the higher the possible speed, in theory up to about 80Mbps (Mega bits per second). See graph at the foot of this page for an estimate of possible speed available at your location.
To see if this upgraded service is available to you visit openreach and enter your telephone number. It should say 'Accepting Orders' and you can contact your service provider to upgrade to a faster service.
Please remember the you will have to upgrade your service, and there will be cost implications, if you wish to take advantage of the improvement accessing the new fibre service may provide. This service may not be available from all service providers.6th September
The final work required to connect and commission the fibre cabinet (No 14) located in Wartling that will enable the provision of Hi-Speed Broadband in this part of the Parish is about to start and hopefully will be completed by the end of the month.
The latest statement from the East Sussex Broadband Engagement team:
"There remains a small section of fibre spine to be blown through in order to complete work. Some traffic management is required which requires a permit from our Highways team and this has been granted from 12th September. Testing will be done on the new network before final commissioning, which is done remotely by the Access Operations Centre in Bristol, takes place.
We know of no reason why services should not be available to customers by end September although, of course, it is always possible that final tests may throw up issues that then need to be rectified. We will update the information on the rollout table on our website when services go live http://www.esussex.org/media/1283/c2-rollout-table-2582017.pdf"

Good News for Boreham Street (the east end) on Broadband speeds
The new combined all-in-one PCP (Primary Cross-Connect Point) and fibre cabinet (No 12) located towards The Bull's Head in Boreham Street is now operational.
To those in this catchment area, this should result in an increase of speed to all who have already upgraded to Hi-speed fibre contracts. If you wish to take advantage of this speed increase and upgrade your contract please contact your Broadband supplier. (choice of service provider may be very limited at this time)

Cabinet No 14 located in Wartling is still waiting to be commissioned.

6th July 2016
Two new cabinets have been installed in the Parish, one in Wartling and the other towards the east end of Boreham Street. These will enable a fibre-to-the-cabinet solution to be delivered in areas not covered by the existing cabinet (Cabinet 4) located at the end of Tilley Lane.
These cabinets form part of what is actually called a network rearrangement - where the copper line lengths are shorted by rearranging to a new combined all-in-one PCP (Primary Cross-Connect Point) and fibre cabinet.
Speeds delivered are 80mbps at the cabinet but can vary at point of delivery (ie the further away from the cabinet the property is, the less the speed).
Please also remember that speeds can depend upon things like internal wiring in a property, currency of the browser, age of the computer equipment being used.
There is no firm delivery timeframe at the moment. Contractually BT is not required to confirm provisional delivery until the end of July and until that happens we won't know what will be in the delivery phase September - June.
More exact timings can't be provided other than the delivery period specified (i.e. not down to a particular month) as Ofcom rules state that all Retail Service Providers must be informed at exactly the same time when a cabinet goes live. Therefore exact dates for expected delivery (other than a broad delivery window) are restricted in order that no provider gains a commercial advantage. The broad delivery timeframe also carries advice that they are provisional and not guaranteed - simply because things do have to change occasionally. That is the nature of this type of deployment in rural areas.
High Speed Broadband Now Available in our Parish
As you may be aware, Herstmonceux Exchange has been upgraded and now provides a fibre feed, known as fttc, to 'Cabinet 4' located at the end of Tilley Lane. This is the distribution point for most of the residents in the Wartling Parish.
The closer to this cabinet the higher the possible speed, in theory up to about 80Mbps (Mega bits per second).
To see if this upgraded service is available to you visit openreach and enter your telephone number. If is says 'Accepting Orders' you can contact your service provider and upgrade to a faster service.
For BT customers, to get an estimate of the speed you may get, go to the upgrade my package page and enter your number, this will tell what packages/speed options are available to you.
If you are not covered by this new faster service, and are happy to let me have your name, address, telephone number and current broadband speed (and indicate if you need broadband for business reasons), I will collate this information to enable Wartling Parish Council to put forward a case to see if a different technology solution could be implemented to improve service to the outlying areas.
The more people that indicate that they are interested in getting high speed broadband the more likely funding will be made available.
